LINUS MATTAUCH
Linus Mattauch holds the Robert Bosch Junior Professorship at the Technical University of Berlin. He also co-leads the Research Lab “Societal Transition and Well-being” at the Potsdam Institute of Climate Impact Research. He is an economist with expertise on climate policy, economics of sustainability, wealth inequality and welfare theory. His research agenda covers a range of topics at the intersection of inequality, climate policy and sustainable development.
The Nominating Committee of the Award designated Linus Mattauch as 2025 Awardee for his strong publication record, with 27 peer-reviewed articles published in the American Economic Review, Science, the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Nature Climate Change and other top journals in the field. His work ranges from public economics, inequality, behavioural economics and political economy to applications in transport, health and food policy and climate physics. He has co-authored papers with influential figures such as Charles Godfray, physicist Susan Solomon, Nicholas Stern and Joseph Stiglitz. He is also committed to ensuring that his research reaches policy-makers by providing support to the European Commission, and to passing on his knowledge to the younger generation by leading research groups and activities. He co-directs the Research Lab on Societal Transition and Wellbeing at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
