Honorary President

Prof. Frank J. Convery

The EAERE General Assembly gathered in Amsterdam on the 26th of June 2009 unanimously appointed Frank Convery Honorary President. Amongst the numerous reasons behind this proposal, are the many nominations for the EAERE Outstanding Awards that Frank Convery has been receiving since the prize inauguration, in both categories. The Council noticed the need of recognising the high esteem, gratitude and appreciation that the EAERE membership feels towards Frank Convery and believes that a nomination as Honorary President is the best way of acknowledging this. The proposed Honorary Presidency does not constitute a new board of the Association, is carried out in full agreement with the EAERE Statutes, and gives consultative advice both to the Council and the Assembly of Members. Frank Convery is also the chair of “The Presidents Council”, a committee constituted with a Council’s resolution of June 24th, 2009 and comprised of former EAERE Presidents. The Presidents Council has the primary task of finding new ways to promote policy impact of environmental economics. This task is developed in agreement with art. 14 of the EAERE statutes and in accordance with directions issued by the Council.
