The EAERE Permanent Secretariat is managed by the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM), and in particular by:
The link between the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and EAERE dates back to the establishment of the Association. FEEM handled the EAERE Secretariat from 1990 to 1994, and then from 1996 to 1997, when Alessandro Lanza, from FEEM, was the Secretary General. FEEM also organised the first Annual Congress in Venice in 1990, and the First World Congress of Environmental and Resources Economists, again in Venice, in 1998.
During the years in which the Secretariat was run by other institutions, FEEM continued to support EAERE by organising some of its activities. From the year 2000, FEEM has been organising the annual EAERE Summer Schools, also offering its support for fund raising activities. FEEM also coordinated the activities of the Selection Committee, chaired by Carlo Carraro from FEEM, of the Third World Congress of Environmental and Resources Economists (2006).
The decision to discontinue as the Secretary General from 1998 was due to the need to keep the Secretariat in the vicinity of the current President’s office. However, this solution proved to be more ineffective than the previous one and consequently reduced the amount and quality of services provided to EAERE members. For this reason, in 2003 the Association has decided to establish a Permanent Secretariat, and has entrusted FEEM with its management. Monica Eberle from FEEM has been appointed Secretary General. FEEM was honoured to accept this task, and since February 2004 has been running the EAERE Secretariat once again.
